Dental implants are a permanent treatment purposed to replace a single tooth or many teeth. The main reason patients look to implants is because they have lost a tooth or teeth because of an injury, or periodontal disease (gum disease).

Dental implants serve to allow your smile to be back to normal when teeth are missing. Most patients who use dental implants are patients who prefer not to wear dentures, nor want their healthy tooth structure removed to make a bridge.

Our doctors will recommend this treatment if you have good oral health. This means the ideal candidate for this procedure has a strong enough jaw to support an implant. Ideally, a patient should also have healthy gums.

Having a dental implant placed will include having screws placed directly into the jawbone, or into the gums, depending on what your doctor will recommend.

The process of this procedure is as follows: 1) your doctor will place the implant, 2) osseointegration, 3) custom crown. Osseointegration, ‘combines with bone,’ is part of the healing process in which the bone essentially grows around the implant; this is what makes the implant very strong. Lastly, once the implant is in place, and your doctor feels it is strong enough, a crown will be placed. Crowns are custom fit and colored so that your smile remains looking natural.

It is important to consult your dentist about this procedure in full detail.
